Lois was a little anxious about mum Margaret’s first pre-bookable respite break at Briggs Lodge, but Margaret enjoyed it so much, she will certainly be returning.

Lois and her husband had planned a short break abroad, but wanted to know Margaret, who lives with them, was being well cared for. After visiting Briggs Lodge Residential and Nursing Home in Devizes, Margaret enjoyed a 10-day break of her own.

Although Lois was initially anxious, she is thrilled with their choice for residential care.

“It was the first time mum has been away from us, and I was understandably a little anxious – next time I wouldn’t worry at all,” Lois explains.

“Mum loved the food – she would have twice as much as she normally does for breakfast, a cooked meal for lunch plus a pudding, even afternoon tea!

“She’s very sociable, so really enjoyed going to the lounge and talking to people and she loved all the staff – nothing was too much trouble.

“The facilities were wonderful too – even though it’s a care home, it felt very personal and homely. There was a library, lounges and a pub. And the activities provided something for everyone – mum loved them all.”

For Lois, she wouldn’t hesitate in booking another break for Margaret again.

“As much as we all get on so well, it was nice for mum to have a break away from us too,” she adds. “Thank you for looking after her so well.”
