Daily activities at Prince Alfred
We’re passionate about supporting our residents to do what they love most – from rekindling an old hobby to trying something new. It’s part of our commitment to enriching lives.
There’s always something to do at our residential care home in Wavertree, including:
- Gardening club – our residents love growing their produce, from green beans to cauliflower to carrots. They harvest their produce for our chef to use in the kitchen.
- Book club – we enjoy getting lost in a good story, so we started our own club!
- Music sessions – as big music fans, we regularly invite musicians to perform in our care home.
- Animal therapy – visits from our much-loved four-legged friends are always a highlight and help to promote wellbeing – especially amongst our residents living with dementia.
- Pampering afternoons – including hand massages, manicures and haircuts from our visiting mobile hairdresser.
- Visits from local school children – the visits provide intergenerational interaction and foster a sense of connection with the Wavertree community.
- Minibus trips – we have so many lovely places on our doorstep, so we love to visit local parks, community tea dances, lunch clubs and more.

Proudly not-for-profit, with a dedicated team
Here, at Sanctuary Care, we’re proud to be a not-for-profit care provider. It means any surplus income goes back into making the care we provide the best it can be.
Our team and residents give our home a warm, welcoming and family-like feel. Some of our staff have been with us for many years, such as our Home Manager, Cheryl, who has been with us for more than 30 years.
Their commitment to care was highlighted in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, receiving an ‘Outstanding’ rate for care – the highest rating.
Some of the many wonderful comments from our residents and their families featured in the report included:
- “it’s exceptional here, I don’t believe there is any other place like it.”
- “it’s a vocation, not a job for the staff.”
- “the level of care is beyond my expectations.”
You can read the full report about our Wavertree care home on the CQC website.
