Glenfairn House Care Home in Ayr
Glenfairn House Care Home is situated in a magnificent Edwardian building, surrounded by stunning gardens. It’s a picturesque setting, and with Ayr Beach being close by, many of our rooms boast sea views across to the Isle of Aran.
However, it’s not only the beauty of the care home that makes it special - it’s also our devoted team. Here, at our care home in Ayr, we provide residential, dementia, nursing, palliative and respite care breaks designed to meet the needs of individuals. Our home provides a comfortable environment where elderly people can enjoy all the support and companionship they need during their later years.
We regularly welcome temporary residents too, as part of our pre-bookable respite care breaks. These short-term stays allow carers to take a break from their duties. Our dedicated team are here to give you the peace of mind your loved one is well-cared for in a safe environment.
What facilities does our residential care home in Ayr offer?
Our care home is blessed with character - period features, such as high ceilings, ornate cornice, bay windows and original stained glass, offer something other nursing homes in Ayr can’t. However, there are plenty of modern facilities too.
Some of our ground-floor bedrooms feature patio doors that open out onto the wheelchair-accessible courtyard areas. It's great for when visitors come, making it easy to get out and enjoy the sights of our glorious gardens. Many of the home's bedrooms also feature walk-in showers.
The gardens are ideal for summer fun. There is a large mature garden at the front and a vast landscaped garden at the rear. Here, we regularly have games of bowls and other lawn games. Meanwhile, barbecues and afternoon tea with family and friends can be held in our summer house.
We love to make sure our residents can look and feel their very best, which is why we have a hair salon - complete with traditional hood dryers. Our local hairdresser visits for regular appointments with our residents.
Mealtimes are always a real highlight at Glenfairn House. Our catering team prepare delicious home-cooked cuisine, from fresh soups and stews, to roast dinners with all the trimmings, and home-baking for afternoon tea each day. It's all enjoyed amongst the best company from the comfort of our lovely dining room.
What is life like at our nursing home in Ayr?
Here, at Sanctuary, we believe moving into a care home doesn't have to mark an end to a person's independence. We encourage our residents to spend their time just as they wish, partaking in the hobbies and activities they love most. However, there's always lots to get involved in at Glenfairn House Care Home - the team is devoted to enriching the lives of our residents
They organise wonderful activities, with one of the most popular being our regular pamper sessions, where residents can enjoy massage, aromatherapy and manicures. These sessions are especially therapeutic for people living with sensory impairments. We adapt these activities so they can be enjoyed from the comfort of our residents' own rooms - which is ideal for those with greater nursing needs.
For those who like to be creative, we have our own poetry group, where residents are free to write and share their verses. Our care home in Ayr regularly welcomes visitors too. We love all visitors, but the animal therapy visits always bring a huge amount of joy to the home - helping residents living with Alzheimer's, other forms of dementia and sensory impairments to reminisce, engage and relax.
We're also here to support the friends and family of our residents. We hold a support and awareness café for those with loved ones living with dementia and memory loss. It gives them the opportunity to learn more about the illness, and allows them to spend time with people who are on the same journey they are.
