Our care home in Dundee offers spectacular panoramic views over the magnificent Tay Rail Bridge over the River Tay, overlooking Magdalen Green, the location of our nursing home is picture perfect. Our residents and their visitors love to wave from the bay windows of the front lounge as the trains go by. The home is a short walk from Tay Bridge Station and the main bus route on the Perth Road, so has excellent transport links.
The front of the period home, situated in Tayside in the West End of Dundee, is bright and airy with ornate features, including high ceilings, moulded cornicing, a chandelier and dado rails. It overlooks the beautiful secure gardens, with views across the river to Fife.

Magdalen Green is Dundee’s oldest city park, with a bandstand dating back to 1890. Our residents have the prime spot for watching events which take place in the summer, from the comfort of their nursing home. From folk music festivals and army and fire brigade demonstrations to cultural community events, this is a thriving area.
Some of our residents love to get out and about and there are some real gems to visit nearby, including the University of Dundee Botanic Garden, the V&A Museum and Camperdown Wildlife Centre, with its brown bears and reptiles. There is a monthly ‘Walking with Dementia’ event which takes place at Camperdown, which many of our residents take part in.
Activities are an extra special part of life in the home, especially regular visits from a group of miniature Shetland ponies. They are so small they can even go in the lift to residents’ bedrooms, which is wonderful for those with higher nursing care needs. These ponies are also extremely therapeutic for our residents living with dementia – it’s magical to watch them together.
It’s also not uncommon for ducks, hamsters and even lizards from a nearby animal centre to pop along to Bridge View Care Home for a visit.
We also have a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting for weekly appointments. The home also has a nail bar from some extra pampering.
Other popular events which take place in our activities room include a regular high tea, especially for the ladies. Meanwhile our gents get together here for games and a pint.
In the heart of our Dundee community
We are really lucky to have the V&A Museum nearby, whose staff kindly bring along memory boxes for reminiscence sessions. These are fantastic for our residents in dementia care. We also take advantage of the service provided by the local library, which regularly refreshes our titles. These are also available in large print for our people with sight difficulties.
Other popular visitors include Duke of Edinburgh students from a high school in Dundee, who visit our nursing home every week. They enjoy taking part in activities and simply having a chat. Representatives from the Church of Scotland and local Roman Catholic Church also carry out services for us at Bridge View House.
Mealtimes are always a very important part of the day and our chef of 20 years; Shirley always impresses with her traditional home-cooked cuisine. Shirley is also a talented baker, creating delicious sweet treats each day for afternoon tea.
A family care home
The team at Bridge View House are like an extended family to our residents. Relatives and friends are welcomed with open arms, often taking part in activities. The main lounge has a kitchenette area, where loved ones are encouraged to help themselves to refreshments.

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their accommodation in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our 2024 weekly room fee starts from £1,420 but may be up to 30% more. This depends on the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms to our premium bedroom options.
