Park Lodge Care Home in Westhill
Nestled in the idyllic and tranquil area of Kirkton of Skene, in Westhill our unique residential home offers specialist care and support for seven adults with complex needs, including learning disabilities and autism.
A forever home where nursing care is provided round-the-clock, many of our residents have been with us for years and years. Park Lodge feels very much like an extended family, with a team completely dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents.
Dedicated care
Several of our team have been here for many, many years, providing the continuity of care our residents need and giving loved ones extra peace of mind. Many of our residents cannot communicate verbally, so having such a well-established team, with combined care and nursing expertise is vital to know our residents’ individual care and communication needs.
Our snoozelyn room is a place for therapeutic indulgence, with fibre-optics, a water feature, tactile activities and soothing light projections. It is a place for both sensory stimulation and relaxation. Our team run Namaste sessions in this room which provides a multisensory programme of care developed specifically for our residents with dementia. We also have a sensory bath for our residents to enjoy, with special features including bubbles, safety candles and soothing lighting.
Having recently been refurbished our residential home, which sits next to Sanctuary Care’s Pitcairn Lodge Nursing Home, feels immaculately fresh, bright and airy. Our residents love to make their rooms unique and personal to them.
Trips and visits out and about
The home has its own minibus which is specially adapted for wheelchairs, which we use to take our residents to places they love to visit in Westhill and the surrounding area of Aberdeenshire, including bowling at Garioch Indoor Bowling Centre and special screenings at Cineworld. We also organise holiday breaks for residents, visiting locations such as Edinburgh and the village of Crathie, near Balmoral Castle. Here we hire specially adapted cottages and accommodation where we can meet their needs.
Because many of our residents have complex learning disabilities and autism, activities which stimulate the senses are very important. Our residents love the regular Once Upon a Tune music therapy sessions we organise.
The parents and siblings of our residents are very much part of family life at Park Lodge and visit whenever they like to enjoy activities and mealtimes with us. We also support our residents to spend quality time away from their home in Westhill, with special visits to their family homes to spend quality time with loved ones.
When not out and about our residents often like to relax and make the most of our peaceful idyllic setting in the heart woodland or relaxing in our sensory gardens.
Based on a survey completed by our residents and their loved ones.
