Part of a not-for-profit organisation, any surplus we make is reinvested back into the care we provide and our care homes.  

 Facilities at Blackwood include:  

• An established wheelchair friendly garden with a lovely summerhouse where our residents enjoy taking afternoon tea.  
• Bright, recently refreshed lounge and dining areas. 
• Hairdressing salon and ‘spa’ room, to help our residents look and feel their very best.  
• Comfortable bedrooms, some with views of our garden and washing facilities.   

At Blackwood, we look to enrich the lives of the people we support – through care tailored to individual needs. We want those living at our care home in Camborne to feel safe, valued and cared for. 

 When a resident joins us at Blackwood, the first thing we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them. Here, we'll set out the care we aim to provide and how we'll deliver it. This plan is assessed and evolves regularly, and we'll work with the resident to ensure their care needs are met. So, you can rest assured if you or your loved one joins us at Sanctuary Care, dedicated care will be available round the clock from a passionate and trusted team. 

We are proud to have four resident ambassadors at Blackwood. Our ambassadors take an active role in care home life, including supporting with our recruitment of all new staff – ensuring they are the right people for our home.  

At Blackwood, we deliver care that prioritises the unique needs and desires of each resident. Something our team is particularly passionate about when it comes to providing engaging experiences. These include: 

• Lively darts and shuffleboard competitions, which even our residents with more mobility needs can take part in. 
• Gentle exercise sessions.  
• Tea Parties in our summerhouse. 
• Celebrations and events with family and friends. 

 Activities leader, Bernie, has been part of the team at Blackwood for over 20 years, and is so enthusiastic about enhancing quality of life for all of her residents.

Respite care is available for residents who need temporary, short-term care too – whether it’s while their regular carer is away, following a hospital stay or just to see if Blackwood could be their next home.

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.  

 Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed.
