Resident Tricia, 82, fulfils lifelong dream with first tattoo
Tricia Steedman, who lives at our Bridge View House Care Home in Dundee, has always longed to get a tattoo, but for years she believed this dream was out of reach due to medication she was taking.
Now, Tricia's lifelong goal to “get inked” has finally become a reality. The wish-come-true experience was organised by the team at Bridge View House.
The activities coordinator at the home, Chloe Cooper carefully sourced a tattoo artist who specialises in tattoos for more mature skin, using a technique appropriate for those taking blood thinning medication.
Tricia, who has lived at Bridge View House for one and a half years, chose an infinity symbol, a paw print and angel wings; a loving tribute to her late dog Rosie.
Chloe Cooper commented: "At Bridge View House, we’re committed to supporting our residents in living enriched, meaningful lives. This means focusing on the passions, dreams and relationships that make every resident unique and so we were over the moon to help Tricia fulfil her dream of getting a tattoo.
“Following the loss of her beloved dog, Tricia decided the time was finally right to pursue her lifelong dream. Her tattoo is now a permanent reminder of the bond she shared with Rosie, allowing those special memories to live on.”
Reflecting on the experience, Tricia said: “I can’t believe I’ve finally got a tattoo. It’s something I’ve wanted for so long and at 82, I figured, why not! It’s a great reminder that it’s never too late to do something bold. A huge thanks to the team who helped to make my dream come true.”
