Nunthorpe Oaks Care Home near Middlesborough
Welcome to our newly transformed Nunthorpe care home! Nunthorpe Oaks has recently undergone an extensive full-home refurbishment to create a beautiful space - where elderly residents can receive the care they need in a safe and comfortable environment.
We offer residential care for those who need a little additional support with day-to-day living. And we also provide short-stay and longer-term respite care breaks, which allow caregivers to take a well-deserved break to relax and recharge. These breaks can be pre-booked in advance.
The families and friends of our residents often compliment Nunthorpe Oaks' 'home-from-home' feel. Our compassionate team is devoted to enriching our residents' lives through a high standard of truly person-centred care, engaging activities and regular social interaction.
What facilities does our Nunthorpe care home offer
residents?
The home's refurbishment has seen a fantastic transformation to our facilities. Each of our en-suite bedrooms has been updated to provide our residents with a light, airy and comfortable space for them to relax in during those quieter moments.
Our spacious lounges are always a hive of social activity, laughter and joy. It's the place where our residents and staff form new friendships, make plans to get out and about and catch up with visiting loved ones. There's always a quiet corner and a cosy armchair for those who love a good book too.
We're also lucky enough to have our own hair and beauty salon, complete with a nail bar. It allows our residents to look their best and indulge in a spot of pampering - because who doesn't love a spot of TLC?
When mealtimes arrive, our residents can enjoy nutritious home-cooked dishes in the bistro café. This stunning space offers a relaxing dining experience.
Finally, we have our secure gardens. They're a real focal point of the home, featuring seating areas, pergolas bursting with colour and a vegetable plot. We've ensured they can be enjoyed by all of our residents, their families and their friends too - with wheelchair-friendly pathways making it easy to get around the gardens. Our garden room opens out onto the courtyard, which is wonderful during the warmer weather.
In the summer months, we often host social gatherings with families and friends on the lawns with Buck’s Fizz, barbecues, and garden games.
What is the food like at Nunthorpe Oaks?
Our talented catering team prepares delicious, nutritionally-balanced, home-cooked food - from fish and chip Fridays to superb Sunday roasts with all the trimmings. Residents can also enjoy freshly-baked cakes alongside afternoon tea. And the team's fresh fruit smoothies always receive rave reviews. We ensure there's always plenty of variety, whether that's in the form of old favourites, or opportunities to try new dishes. It's easy to see why mealtimes at Nunthorpe Oaks are such a highlight.
What do we do at Nunthorpe Oaks residential home to stay
active?
Here, at Sanctuary Care, we know that engaging activities enhance well-being. There's always something exciting going on for our residents to get involved in - whatever their interests. We regularly show modern movies and timeless classics in our new cinema lounge, which can be enjoyed with popcorn from our machine - for that true cinema experience. We also organise lots of individual and small group activities, like our knitting club, music sessions, bingo and light exercise classes.
We regularly welcome visitors to the home. Youngsters from the local nursery love spending time with our seniors, while students for our local high school, Nunthorpe Academy, have stopped by to volunteer - taking residents’ food orders and bringing their meals to the table as if they were in a restaurant.
With our care home being near Middlesbrough town centre, we regularly arrange trips out and about using our neighbouring scheme's minibus. Middlesbrough's Doman Museum is a popular place with our residents. We also like to take trips to Cleveland and Redcar. Closer to home, there's also the church in Nunthorpe, as well as Nunthorpe Bowling Club - our residents love to watch matches.

Respite care is also a great way to explore transitioning into residential care if you are not sure it’s quite right for you.
