Forest Dene Care Home in Wanstead
Located in a residential area of Wanstead in East London, Forest Dene is a short walk from the main High Street. Set in a pleasant and leafy area, it feels like a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of London.
Forest Dene Residential Care Home is close to Wanstead Park with lots of open green spaces as well as plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Our home is also a short drive from the picturesque Epping Forest.
Our care team
When you ask loved ones of our residents what the most important part of the home is, a resounding vote is always for the team. It is the dedicated staff who make this feel like a true home, not just for our residents but for those closest to them. Our wonderful care team are on hand 24/7 to provide a range of care and support services to our residents, including residential care, dementia care and respite care.
A lovely area of the home in the warmer weather is the secure balcony which leads from the first-floor dining room. This area is a hotspot for our residents to catch up with visitors and for staff and residents to enjoy one-to-one activities. There is shelter from the sun here and a wonderful view of the pretty gardens below. One of our residents takes on the responsibility of maintaining the planters on the balcony, which always look beautiful.
Plenty of activities
With a dedicated activities leader, there are always lots of engaging and interesting activities on offer. Every Tuesday the residents enjoy a gentle exercise class, for which they are joined by 11-year-olds from a local school in Walthamstow who bring an abundance of energy! There are also regular music therapy sessions with a local group called Smile.
Our care home has its own hairdressing room which includes a nail bar. Our mobile hairdresser uses the room once a week for appointments with our residents, who also love to be pampered with hand massages and manicures.
Our residents really look forward to their weekly visits from local pre-school children. They enjoy doing everything from singing, bowling, reading and doing arts and crafts.
Other friendly faces are our loyal team of volunteers who come into Forest Dene to enjoy a range of activities. They do everything from simply catching up on the daily newspapers, to running a session or two of bingo.
Forest Dene shares a minibus with another local Sanctuary Care home, so our residents can enjoy trips to places like Valentine’s Park in nearby Redbridge, which has a large boating lake. We also really enjoy visits to Wellgate Community Farm where we are able to pet everything from rabbits and donkeys to cows and sheep!
Pricing information
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2023 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,233 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
How do I find out more about paying for care?

If you would like to speak to them directly, please call 0800 046 4829.
