Enriching activities at Juniper House
We truly believe that delivering care is just the start in our care home. Something that we feel makes our residential and dementia care home in Worcester so special is how we enrich lives. And it all starts with our person-centred activities.
Our care home activities programme is shaped by the residents we have in our home. We have a member of staff dedicated to providing activities and they meet with new residents right away to understand their interests, passions, likes and dislikes. From this information, which they review regularly, along with our residents' life histories, an activity programme is formed.
Our activities programme includes group activities and one-to-one sessions. We encourage residents to be as involved as they are comfortable with being. If there is an activity they wish to take part in but are feeling overwhelmed, our dedicated activities coordinator will adapt to their needs.
Every month a new programme is pulled together, with seasonal and national celebrations being included too. For example we have once hosted a summer cruise during the school summer holidays and a winter 'snowball fight' during Christmas time.
Regular activities include:
- knitting clubs
- gardening clubs
- live music entertainment
- visiting nursery children
- community coffee mornings
- animal visits
- tai chi and armchair exercises
- arts and crafts
and so much more.
We also have a minibus, where we enjoy activities, trips and events outside of St John's, Worcester. We often organise trips to places like Webbs, Wychbold and the Malvern Theatre.
