When it comes to enriching the lives of our residents, their loved ones and our incredible staff, we are so proud to be a trusted not-for-profit care home provider.
What is a not-for-profit care home provider?
As a registered, exempt charity, Sanctuary’s surplus income doesn’t go to shareholders, it’s re-invested back into the things that matter most for our residents, their loved ones and our staff.
By continually investing money back into our care homes, they are wonderful places that our residents are proud to call home. By investing in our staff, they have the training they need to provide the very best care for our residents, and of course their careers can thrive, which keeps them happy and motivated to do what they do best! And we invest in technology, which supports us to enrich our residents’ lives, from our award-winning electronic care planning app kradle, to ‘Magic Tables’, which encourage gentle movement as our residents play interactive light games.
Investing in our care homes
As a not-for-profit care home provider, we continually invest money back into our care homes, from creating special areas like vintage cafés and hair and beauty salons, to transforming outdoor spaces for our residents to relax with their loved ones. Like Rowanweald, our nursing home in Harrow Weald, which has undergone a stunning £4m transformation.
We also invest our time, with hundreds of staff having volunteered their time doing a spot of decorating and gardening at our care homes, as part of our Employee Volunteering scheme.
Investing in our staff
It’s the dedication and devotion of our staff that ensures we continually enrich the lives of our residents. To get the best staff, we do everything we can to enrich their lives too. From investing in ongoing training so their careers can flourish, to providing resources to support their physical and mental wellbeing. And our Investors in People Strong Gold accreditation is testament to our dedication to our teams.
Investing in technology like kradle - our award-winning care planning app
By embracing and championing modern technology, this not only enriches the lives of our residents, it gives our amazing staff the very best tools to do their job.
Like kradle, our bespoke electronic care planning app. Created in-house, kradle replaces paper-based care plans with electronic plans, giving staff more time to spend with our residents. And as we speak, we’ve hit a great milestone in the roll-out of kradle, which won the Best Use of Technology accolade in the Care Home Awards 2020 and was a finalist for the Innovation category of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2022. We are proud to say it’s now live in our care homes across both England and Scotland
More on how we are enriching lives
Providing great care is just the start of what we do as a not-for-profit care provider. To truly understand how to enrich the lives of the people in our care, we commissioned independent researchers who spoke with our residents to find out what matters most to them. Using this information, we created our unique Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled - a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, security and significance.
This is embedded into our residents’ lives at the very start of their care journey with us, so we can support them to live life their way they choose and achieve their goals and aspirations.
