Scott has daily home care, but respite at Wantage gives his parents a complete break
We talk to Isabel, who is 77 and along with her husband John, looks after their 48-year-old son Scott, who has a genetic condition and requires round-the-clock care.
Home carers visit the family three times daily to support Scott, but being a full-time carers in your late 70s, the couple need respite care for Scott so they can feel refreshed.
The home carers who visit Scott recommended our Wantage Nursing Home in Oxfordshire - and he has just enjoyed his very first respite break there!
“He was so happy there, he has already said he will be going back next year as he had a really good time,” says Isabel.
“Scott said the staff were lovely and very caring. For him to say he will go back, that is brilliant as he has been to other places before and said he wouldn’t.”
And for Isabel and John, it is so much easier for them as the nursing home, which is tucked behind Wantage Community Hospital, is very close by, giving them even more peace of mind.
“We definitely need that break and look forward to them - to have people look after us for a change.”
