“It’s a home from home” – why George loves Nunthorpe Oaks
When George couldn’t walk after a knee replacement, our care home in Nunthorpe was recommended to daughter Margaret – and two years later they still couldn’t be happier!
George couldn’t walk following his operation and Margaret knew he needed full-time care. Registered disabled herself she couldn’t care for him at home – after finding Nunthorpe Oaks Residential Care Home in Middlesbrough, she’s delighted with their choice.
“There’s a lovely atmosphere and all the staff are so very caring and kind – they go out of their way to do special things,” she says. “I would highly recommend Nunthorpe Oaks – the staff are just lovely and it’s a home from home.”
Another highlight is the home-cooked food. “They make all sorts of lovely food, he loves it,” she adds. “Every afternoon, they bring round a cup of tea and there’s always a home-made cake. And if he doesn’t fancy what’s on the menu for tea, they will cook him something else.”
Margaret, who has osteoporosis and scoliosis, which means her bones are very weak and she has a curvature of the spine, is cared for at home by her husband. But she says when she needs to move into a care home, Nunthorpe Oaks will be her first choice!
“It’s lovely - I’ve said one day I will be coming, so make sure there’s a room ready!”
