Alpacas drop into Asra House
Residents at our Asra House Residential Care Home in Leicester enjoyed a very special visit from some four-legged friends recently.
The surprisingly cuddly creatures, from Anstey Alpacas were a huge hit, with activities co-ordinator Sabbir Aswat saying: “This is the first time that we have had alpacas visit, but it certainly won’t be the last. Everyone loved it!”
Sabbir added: “We are always looking for fun ideas to enrich our residents’ lives and create memorable experiences that they will really enjoy.”
Animal therapy is well-known for the benefits, both physical and mental, particularly for older people living with dementia, helping to improve emotional, social, and cognitive abilities.
The residents at Asra House loved the surprise, with many having never seen an alpaca before, and commented on how gentle they were and how surprisingly soft their fur was.
