Honda heaven at Haven
Honda aficionado, resident Jill Hughes, was delighted after a surprise visit to Haven Residential Care Home from community biker, Patrick Brown.
The motorbike visit brought memories flooding back for Jill, 93, who lives at our care home in Pinner.
Jill used to drive her own Honda scooter, and her passion for biking clearly shone through as she quizzed Patrick about his motorbike, a Honda Cruiser, and reminisced on her days spent on two wheels.
Comparing the superbike to her current three-willer, Jill Hughes joked: “You don’t stop riding when you get old, you get old when you stop riding!”
The visit was organised by activities co-ordinator Carl Simon, after Jill revealed her interest in motorbikes.
Peter Bharj, Home Manager commented: “We love to hear our residents sharing their memories and chatting about old times. When residents move into our homes, we like to learn about what makes them tick and what they have a passion for, so that we can create a sense of continuity that we know is so important for fulfilment in later life.
“It was great to see the smile on Jill’s face as the motorbike engine roared to life. It was love at first sight! This is why we’re here; to create special moments for special people.”
