Meet our Resident Ambassador Peter 

We introduce Peter, a man of many skills, who is certainly putting them to good use as our Resident Ambassador at The Manse in South London. 

Peter has lived at the home for 12 years after joining his beloved wife Ella, who sadly passed away several years ago. Despite this Peter was determined to stay.

Having always been a Minister with the Church of England, Peter is able to deliver religious services, something he loves to do at The Manse. Not only that, he is a keen artist, so runs art classes with his fellow residents, who have even had work exhibited at a nearby arts centre.

Peter explains: “I’ve been given various pockets of experience in life, and I’ve been able to use them here for other people.” 

And talking about why it is so important to retain those skills he adds: “I’ve still got the Ministry and at the same time I have my work here being a resident. I’m very much part of a community, as well an individual in my own right.”

For Peter and his fellow residents at The Manse Residential Care Home in South Norwood, having an active role to play in the running of the home is essential, giving him a sense of purpose and belonging.

“The dimension of life is really what you make it,” he adds. “If you have been active in life, it’s really important to join in with things and this care home has developed so many activities for the residents here. I’ve made this my home in every sense that you could think of.”
