The Magnificent Seven – National Care Awards success

We are delighted to reveal that Sanctuary Care and five of our amazing staff have been shortlisted for the finals of seven National Care Awards 2023.

As a leading not for profit care provider, Sanctuary Care is in the running for the Training & Development of the Year Award, in recognition of our dedication to our staff and how we invest in them personally and professionally, nurturing their talent and supporting their physical and mental wellbeing.

Meanwhile Sanctuary Care is also up for the Large Care Home Group Award, in recognition of our vision of enriching lives of our residents, their loved ones, our staff and the communities we are part of.  

And the following staff are up for individual accolades:

• Rita Schofield at Kintyre House in Invergordon - (The Sara Berrio Care Champion Award) – described as the ‘Mother of Kintyre’, Administrator Rita nurtures everyone around her, supporting her colleagues and residents to thrive.
• Bunga Gurden at Birch House in Peterculter (Carer of the Year) - Bunga champions her residents to play an active role in how their home is run, giving them a sense of purpose and belonging.  
• Kate Lockwood at Westmead in Droitwich, Worcestershire (Care Activities Co-ordinator of the Year) – Kate devotes so much time to find out about her residents’ life histories, so she can enrich their lives through activities that bring them joy.
• Kirsty Bagan at Forefaulds in East Kilbride (Care Newcomer of the Year) – in her 18 months working in care, her role as activities co-ordinator is like a natural calling for Kirsty, who has flourished.
• Lukasz T.-Bustos (Care Area Manager of the Year) – described as being a “rock of stability”, Lukasz supported the integration of 13 care homes to the Sanctuary family from Cornwall Care.

The finalists will go head-to-head with other category finalists at an awards ceremony in London in November – good luck everyone!
