It's circus time at Woodland!
There was plenty of fun to be had when the circus came to Woodland Residential Care Home in St Austell.
From Monday through to Friday, everyone enjoyed circus-themed entertainment that included decorating rooms, learning about circus history, playing circus themed games, eating candy floss and having a party.
“We began the week by theming each of our three lounges with circus animal, clown and acrobat decorations,” said Activities Coordinator Leanne Masters.
“On Tuesday we went back in time to find out how and why circuses began – with lots of pictures and facts to keep us all amused. Wednesday was focused on playing games like beanbag and ring toss and Thursday was about overindulging with a snack cart and candy floss, whilst listening to circus music.
“Our grand finale was, of course, a party. There were makeovers for residents who wanted them, a delicious lunch and, in the afternoon, an hour of silliness, singing and balloon sculptures with local entertainer Tim Parr.
“Pride of place on the feast table was a cake that kitchen assistant Bex made and, not to be out done, our wonderful team of staff competed for a best hair and make-up award.”
“We love going above and beyond when it comes to creating a happy, vibrant atmosphere and, judging by all the smiles and laughter, circus week certainly achieved that,” said Woodland manager Emma Kent.
“A big thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and creativity. Our circus time was amazing!”
