Hiss-terical fun for Chinese New Year

Female care home resident holding a snake

Residents at Lammas House Residential Care Home in Coventry celebrated the Chinese New Year with an interactive animal visit.

The animal therapy workshop was organised to mark the Year of the Snake. It saw the residents welcome a range of exciting animals representing the Chinese zodiac into the home.

During the visit, resident Elish bonded with Pudding the Corn Snake.

Reflecting on her youth, she said: “Where I grew up, you would see snakes in the fields, and you would get away quick!” – yet she thought nothing of stroking and petting Pudding!

During the session, Zoolab Presenter, Clare Seery, was on-hand to provide the residents with interesting facts about the animals, who delighted in interacting with the symbolic creatures.

Heather Davis, Manager at our Outstanding CQC-rated home, said: “We are passionate about supporting our residents to live fulfilled, meaningful and happy lives. Organising special celebrations and interactive experiences, like animal therapy, are just a few of the ways that we bring joy to our residents every day.”
