From Hairdresser to Home Manager: Tyler’s Inspiring Journey in Care
This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating Tyler, a caring and hardworking leader. She started her career as a hairdresser but found her true passion in care. Now, she is the Home Manager at Lime Tree Court Residential Care Home in Bilston, helping residents and staff feel safe and happy every day.
A Journey of Growth and Leadership
Tyler joined the home as a Care Assistant and quickly progressed. She was promoted to Team Leader after just three months and later stepping into the role of Deputy Manager.
Tyler was promoted to Home Manager, a role she continues to fulfil with passion and purpose. She is deeply committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment for both residents, loved ones and staff, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported.
Making a Difference Every Day
Tyler’s love for care began while working as a hairdresser. Inspired by her elderly clients, she pursued a career in care and never looked back. Over the past decade, she has worked tirelessly to build a home that promotes dementia awareness, well-being and community engagement.
Her leadership has inspired the introduction of a mental health café at the home, staff well-being initiatives and community partnerships with local schools and other organisations. She takes immense pride in supporting her team, ensuring they have opportunities for professional growth and development.
Empowering the Next Generation
Tyler believes in leading by example, ensuring her team feels valued and supported. Her advice to anyone thinking of a career in care is “Never doubt yourself, always advocate for residents, and embrace every opportunity to grow.” She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of care professionals, encouraging them to develop their skills and build enriched careers within the sector.
