Malcolm’s respite journey – “I’m looked after like a king!”
When Malcolm Dalley suddenly needed respite care at short notice, he booked a short break at Heathlands Residential Care Home in Pershore.
“I feel like I’m being looked after like a king, they can’t do enough for me,” he says. “It’s really beautiful here and nothing is too much trouble.”
“The care is absolutely great,” adds Malcolm, who is 69 years old. “You just can’t fault it and everybody is so helpful.”
Malcolm is a diabetic, so has to be extremely careful what he eats. With a catering team at Heathlands, everything is lovingly prepared using fresh ingredients. Malcolm has to avoid too many carbohydrates, so needs lots of protein packed salads.
“All the food is very good,” he said. “But the salads they create for me are absolutely beautiful.
“I had to go to the hospital the other day and as soon as got back the staff got me a lovely salad and looked after me.”
Malcolm used to act as a ‘mystery shopper’ for care homes, to feed back to companies on their service, so says he’s always very honest if he isn’t happy about something. He says he’d rate Heathlands at “least 9.5 out of 10”.
“I keep telling people it’s like the best all inclusive hotel in Pershore,” he says. “I have got people running around looking after me.”
