Kirsty in the running for National Care Awards

Congratulations to Kirsy Bagan, our Activities Co-ordinator at Forefaulds Care Home in East Kilbride, who is a finalist in the National Care Awards 2023.

Kirsty is in the running for the Care Newcomer Award, which recognises individuals who have recently joined the care sector and are excelling in their role.

The former children’s entertainer began working at Forefaulds in 2021 and has absolutely thrived.  

Kirsty devotes so much time getting to know the residents, learning their life stories, and discovering the things they love to do.

She goes above and beyond to organise special experiences for the residents, with highlights including a performance by BBC Scotland Sings and interactive quizzes, where different Sanctuary Care homes across Scotland compete against one other.

Along with organising enriching group activities to enhance the residents’ wellbeing, Kirsty supports residents to use their skills and passions to play an active role in the running of the home.

She spends time with one resident, a former farmer, growing fruit and vegetables, which are used by the care home chef to prepare delicious meals for the residents.

Kirsty has even raised several thousand pounds for the care home activities fund by organising spectacular Christmas and summer fêtes.

Annie Dickson, care home manager at Forefaulds Care Home said: "Kirsty has had an incredibly positive impact on our residents since joining our team. Ensuring our residents feel happy and fulfilled every day is at the centre of the care we provide and Kirsty’s enthusiasm and dedication to enriching their lives is nothing short of inspiring.

"We’re so proud that’s she’s been shortlisted for this amazing award and are delighted to see her commitment celebrated on a national level."
