Lyons Court Residential Care Home in Chelmsford
Having been rated ‘Good’ in every single area inspected in the care home’s Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, it’s easy to see why Lyons Court is so well regarded in the local and wider Essex communities. Here, we provide compassionate residential and respite care in Chelmsford for elderly people, tailored to meet their individual needs.
One of the highlights of the CQC report was undoubtedly the glowing praise for the caring and kind nature of the team – the report commented: “People told us staff were exceptionally caring and warm towards them. For example, one person burst into laughter when a member of staff came into their room. It was clear that they had a lovely rapport together.”
Set in a beautiful location, with stunning gardens, on the outskirts of the city, our Chelmsford care home provides a great environment for our residents to enjoy their later years while receiving the dedicated support they need.

What facilities can our residential care home in Chelmsford offer?
At the heart of Lyons Court, you'll find one of our lounges, which is a real hub for the home's social activities. Based in a converted timber barn, this magnificent room boasts exposed beams, high ceilings, and full-length windows that allow light to flood in. It creates a cosy feel that allows our residents to relax, socialise and make their plans for the day.
Away from the lounges, we also have an on-site hairdressing salon where residents can enjoy pampering sessions - with haircuts and massages to ensure they always look and feel their very best. The home also has a light and airy dining room. Mealtimes are always a highlight of the day at Lyons Court, with delicious, nutrient-packed meals created by our chefs always receiving plenty of praise.
When our residents want to enjoy the quieter moments, they always have the privacy of their rooms. Each one is equipped with en-suite bathroom facilities. And we encourage residents to bring reminders of home to make the space their own.
Our residential care home in Chelmsford also benefits from having great outdoor space. The gardens feature lots of seating and are a popular spot during the summer months. They're wheelchair accessible too, so all residents can enjoy them.
Activities that enrich lives at our Chelmsford care home
The team works hard to help our residents to remain connected to the community outside the care home.
Local church groups from Chelmsford and the wider Essex area come to Lyons Court to conduct services, especially for our residents. And the team provides special hymn books in larger print for residents who need a little extra help.
We also run a homework club to support our local college students. The college identifies skills the youngsters need additional support with and we ‘buddy’ them up with our residents who have those skillsets – for example, if a resident speaks French, or perhaps worked as a writer and has skills in literacy and grammar. This is a wonderful opportunity not just for the students but for our residents, as it allows them to share their valuable knowledge with the younger generation. It gives them a real sense of pride.
Welcoming loved ones to our residential and dementia home in Chelmsford
Another element of the care home which received high praise from the CQC was the way the team embraces the loved ones of residents. Our team are like an extended family, and do everything they can to make those closest to the residents feel truly part of Lyons Court.
One of the many lovely comments from the family members of residents in the home’s CQC report included: "We're very happy that the home hasn't taken over. We still feel involved. We get informed about any changes and any concerns.”
Lyons Court Residential Care Home pricing information
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2024 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,307 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
