A stone’s throw from Clayhall Park, Birchwood is one of Sanctuary Care’s not-for-profit care homes in Redbridge. With a warm, cosy feel, it is a thriving home providing residential, dementia and respite care.
At the heart of the home is a team of devoted staff, many of whom have been here for 10 and even 20 years. The home manager and deputy manager have been at Birchwood for a combined 30 years! We look beyond our residents’ physical care needs, to learn about their life histories and the things they love to do.
The home is rich in cultural diversity, with residents and staff celebrating their heritage with multi-cultural days and home-cooked food from around the globe.

A stone’s throw from Barkingside High Street, Birchwood is close to Fairlop and Barkingside stations, providing great transport links for visitors.
Inside the home residents can enjoy:

- Hair salon, where our hairdresser visits for weekly appointments with residents
- Two gardens - our residents love growing their own vegetables and herbs for our chef to use in the kitchen. So many residents would have grown their own produce before joining us, so this gives them such a sense of achievement.
- Dining rooms to enjoy delicious, home cooked meals, from Fish and Chip Fridays and curries, to roast dinners and home baking for afternoon tea. Other dishes our chef prepares include Turkish and Caribbean cuisine.
