“From my point of view Park View is outstanding”- dementia specialist Lynne’s story

When dementia nursing specialist Lynne was faced with choosing a care home for her father Derek, she admits the decision was extremely emotional.
Derek moved into our Park View Residential Care Home in Sheffield in June 2022, and Lynne couldn’t be happier with their choice.
“I didn’t think I want to put my father in a care home - we never felt quite ready,” she explains.
When he lived alone Derek had home carers visit four times a day, but Lynne was so anxious about his safety and the lack of social interaction between visits.
Following a spell in hospital they started looking for a care home for Derek, who is 89 and lives with dementia.
When they found Park View, in Shiregreen, Lynne didn’t think they would be able to afford it but they went to see for themselves. They were so impressed it’s been home for Derek ever since.
“They’ve worked wonders with dad,” she says. “When he arrived he wasn’t walking and had to use a hoist - now he is walking and can mobilise himself!
“He is so much brighter facially – and he is eating so well! Now he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t look distressed in his face like he did before he moved in.”
For Lynne and her family Park View is “second to none”. She says: “I can’t sing their praises enough. Nothing is too much trouble for them. From my point of view Park View is outstanding.
“He is my dad and I wouldn’t let him to go anywhere unless I was happy – and I am 100 per cent happy!”
