Masline graduates as chair of advisory council of nurses

An inspirational Sanctuary Care nurse is celebrating after graduating with the Florence Nightingale Foundation as a regional chair of an advisory council of nurses.

Masline Chitura, our Head of Clinical Development, attended a ceremony with fellow nurse leaders, where she was presented with her accolade by Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, Deborah Sturdy.

Masline is now Chair of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire branch of the Social Care Nursing Advisory Council (SCNAC), a role she will carry out alongside her position with Sanctuary Care, advising and supporting nurses across our care homes.

Her appointment will mean she is part of a committee which advocates on behalf of the adult social care sector, looking at everything from the process of residents moving into care homes from hospitals, to upskilling staff and equal opportunities to upskill non-clinical staff as well as nurses.

Masline said: “I feel very proud because this is an opportunity not just for me, but one that will benefit my nursing and care colleagues across Sanctuary Care. I will be promoting care home nursing and residential care on a national platform and am hoping this will open up so many opportunities for our staff.

“I am passionate about upskilling staff by sharing knowledge and creating opportunities for learning, so I’m very excited about what this will mean for the future.”

Masline, who is also a Queen’s Nurse, a title given to exceptional nurse leaders and role models, received her title at the Royal College of Physicians in London recently.
