Double success at National Care Awards!

The team at Sanctuary Care are over the moon for two of their colleagues, who have secured victory in the National Care Awards 2023.

Kirsty Bagan, from our Forefaulds Care Home in East Kilbride and Bunga Gurden, from Birch House Care Home in Peterculter, were both shocked but delighted to hear their names called at the prestigious awards event in London recently.

Kirsty, who has worked at Forefaulds as an activities coordinator since 2021, won the Care Newcomer Award, while Bunga was proud to take home the Carer of the Year Award.  

Nominated for the way she enriches the lives of her residents through inspiring and engaging activities which bring them joy, Kirsty said of her win: “The whole experience was just amazing – and to win just topped it off!

“I feel honoured to have been shortlisted, but to win was just amazing. I really didn’t expect it and was in shock.”

Bunga was nominated for the inspirational ways in which she champions the abilities of her residents, supporting them to have such an active role to play in how their home is run.

She said of her victory: “I was over the moon when they called my name, I’m so happy! My category was the first one to be called and I was so surprised and excited to hear my name. I feel very proud and honoured and am very grateful.”
