Scarlett’s joy working at Wantage

We shine the spotlight on Scarlett, who is over the moon with her new role of activities co-ordinator at Wantage Nursing Home in Oxfordshire.

Having worked in the home’s kitchens while studying at university she knew, having watched the residents enjoying different activities that this was a role she was passionate about.

And when an activities co-ordinator position came up, she grabbed it with both hands - loving every minute of her new role.

She says: “It’s the satisfaction I get – I go home every day with a smile on my face, because there is always something about that day which has been heart-warming.

“It feels really meaningful and I feel I am making a real difference.”

Scarlett loves doing one to one activities with the residents individually, for example sensory activities or chatting to them about their fascinating life histories.

Following in the footsteps of the much-loved Channel 4 favourite, Scarlett and fellow activities coordinator Sue have loved hosting their very own ‘Great Wantage Bake Off’. The residents made cake pops for Halloween and will be baking their own Christmas decorations very soon.
