What can my loved one enjoy doing at our care home in Canterbury?
The team at our Hersden home pride themselves on the range of activities they offer including pool, table tennis, and football – perfect for our sporty residents.
We also have a cinema room and a bar area.
The sun terrace is a lovely spot for residents to relax; our residents often enjoy afternoon tea and home-baked cakes outside with plenty of seating for visiting family and friends.
The terrace and garden also have lots of raised beds and hanging baskets, perfect for our green-fingered residents who love spending time pottering in the garden.
There is a hairdressing salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting weekly. We also hold regular pamper sessions here, with manicures and hand massages.
We have a 'Magic Table', an innovative piece of technology that projects interactive light games onto a surface. The device encourages gentle movement, which is beneficial for elderly and older people living with Alzheimer's Disease, other forms of dementia, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and age-related memory loss.
What is the food like in our care home?
Mealtimes are a huge highlight, not only for the delicious home cooking but also for social interaction. Our dedicated catering team cooks everything from scratch, from traditional roast dinners with all the trimmings to home-baked cakes and biscuits; the menu selections are always popular!
Engaging with our Canterbury community
Our residential care home is a big part of the local community. Our residents especially love visits from the children at schools in Hersden. The children also enjoy spending time with our seniors, visiting for lunch, arts, and singing sessions. These are fantastic for reminiscence for our residents living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and memory loss.
Our local Hersden community minibus provides accessible transport that is ideal for trips to the seaside at Herne Bay and garden centres, cafés, and shops across Canterbury and Kent.
Providing carer support with adult respite care breaks

We know now more than ever that caregivers looking after elderly relatives in our community and across Kent need a rest, so we offer short breaks and longer-term respite care options.
"Mum has made friends there and she loved having people around her. When she was at home with us, she didn't have many people around and she would just sit and look out the window.
"When she went into respite care, she loved having the company." Independent carehome.co.uk review from daughter of a resident
