What is the food like in our care home in Harrow Weald?
Mealtimes, quite rightly, are a real highlight, with delicious home-cooking and companionship at every meal.
There really is so much choice when it comes to food. From daily cooked breakfasts and curries with the freshest ingredients, to fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce. And every day they bake something sweet for afternoon tea, including chocolate brownies and scones.
The quality of the food is exceptional and far exceeds care home cooking expectations. Our care home catering teams shape their menus on the likes and dislikes of our residents, as well as nutritional need.
What activities are available at Rowanweald Nursing Home?
There is plenty of choice when it comes to activities. Activities may include indoor badminton, volleyball, arts and crafts, movie afternoons, visiting entertainers and so much more. There really is so much going on in our care home every single week.
On top of regular activities, another weekly highlight for our residents is a pamper session in our very own salon. A Harrow based hairdresser visits weekly for resident appointments. And our team are also on standby for pamper sessions on other days too!
We are very inclusive here at Rowanweald and consider that all our residents have unique needs. For our residents living with Alzheimer's, dementia or age-related memory loss, we have invested in an 'experience table'. With interactive light games, residents reach out to touch the images, which respond to their physical movements. It is also mobile, which is ideal for our senior residents who are much frailer.
Our dedicated activities staff plan our home's activities around the residents we have living with us. With group and one-to-one care home activities, we keep residents connected to previous pastimes and new hobbies too. Why not pop along to see an activity for yourself?
Our local reputation - in the heart of Harrow Borough
Our Rowanweald nursing home team is highly respected in our local Harrow community. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rates us 'Good' across every area, including ‘Caring’. Inspectors spoke with staff, residents and their families. One of the many comments in the CQC report included: "It's a great privilege to be here, and we are treated with dignity and respect".
We are so proud of our CQC rating and the care offering we have available for local families.
What are the care home gardens like?
Our rooftop garden is peaceful and pretty, with plants that stimulate the senses.
We also have a separate garden, a wonderful place for family and friends to relax with us in the summer. We recently hosted our care home open day celebration here, to mark our £4 million refurbishment works. Friends and families from across the Harrow Borough joined us in rejoicing the new chapter of our wonderful care home.
A short respite break or permanent care home stay in Harrow?
We offer flexible adult respite care in Harrow. These breaks are for people who need a rest or need to recovery after a hospital stay. They are also perfect for caregivers looking after an elderly family member at home who need a short break themselves. They can have the rest they need, with the peace of mind that their relative is in safe hands.
